Yousay you are getting a "backfire" via the exhaust under load which again points to an ignition spark issue as unburnt fuel is pushed down the exhaust to be ignited in the hot exhaust causing a bang/pop. Ignition coil issues tend to just show as a "misfire" when the car is plugged into a code reader.
