Just picked up a lightly used KTM 1190 Adventure. I changed the oil right away, along with all the other fluids. I went along with the user manual recommendation of using Motorex oil 10W-50. Decided I better do some research here, and I’m finding out that it’s not a very good oil. So what are the recommendations for use here in the LC8?

The oil gets dark in the sight tube, but no different at 15,000 km than at 5,000 km. No issues to date. I did the same with my K1300S BMW, MV Agusta Brutale 1078RR, Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and Triumph Speed Triple, all of which have 15,000km service intervals, without an issue. So, any shortcuts, or useful suggestions, since, unlike other bikes that I have owned, the 690 appears to eat oil when run fairly hard. Not a lot of oil in a bit over 100 miles, but, 200cc's, and that is 12.5% of its capacity.
